Local Weather
Partly Sunny & HOT, with a brief shower or two possible & slightly breezy.
A system of high pressure extends across the local area, therefore limiting shower activity throughout the SSS (and surrounding) Islands. Conditions will also be HOT with a slight (warm) breeze; while sea conditions remain moderate. This fair weather is expected to continue for the next few days, making it favorable for outdoor & beach activities.

  • Winds: are generally from the East at 5 to 15 miles per hour, with occasional higher gusts.
  • Seas: are moderate with wave heights between 3 to 6 feet.
 
Tropical Weather 
Active Storms: Hurricane Ophelia, Tropical Storm Philippe.

* Ophelia intensified to a Cateory-4 Hurricane yesterday and as of 8am this morning was located at 37.5N 61.2W or about 760mi Southwest of Newfoundland, Canada. Ophelia downgraded to winds of 125mph (Cat.3) this morning and is racing towards the North-Northeast at 30mph. This system is forecast to steadily weaken during the next couple of days.
* As of 5am this morning, Tropical Storm Philippe was located at 25.6N 50.8W or about 965mi ESE of Bermuda/940mi 
NE of the Lesser Antilles. TS Philippe had winds of 70mph (near hurricane strength) and is moving toward the West-Northwest at 10mph. This system is also expected to weaken over the next 48 hours.
None of these systems pose any threat to the local region or the rest of the Caribbean.
