Local Weather
Partly Cloudy and breezy, with a few passing showers.
Lingering moisture left behind the tropical wave that passed just South of the area yesterday will induce some shower activity over parts of the SSS (and surrounding) Islands during the next 24 hours. Windy conditions will also remain for the next 24 hours. Therefore, sea conditions will continue to be fairly rough and is forecast to begin improving by tomorrow afternoon. Mariners (boaters & beach-goers) are urged to continue using caution as a Small Craft Advisory remains in effect until further notice.

  • Winds: are generally from the East at 10 to 25 miles per hour with higher gusts up to 30 miles per hour, mainly near showers.
  • Seas: are moderate to fairly rough with wave heights between 3 to 7 feet, decreasing to up to 5 feet by tomorrow.

Tropical Weather
Active Storms: None.

* Tropical Storm Gert degenerated to a non-tropical storm over the North Atlantic on Tuesday afternoon.
* A tropical wave is moving into the Western Caribbean, leaving a tail of moisture behind it that will bring local showers to the SSS (and surrounding) Islands, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands today. This system is still showing signs for developing into a tropical cyclone within the next couple of days.
* Elsewhere, a tropical wave located near the Cape Verde Islands is about 5-6 days away from the Lesser Antilles. Environmental conditions are conducive for development as it crosses the Atlantic, but it is too soon to tell if/when this development will occur.

Special Weather
None.

Outlook for tomorrow
Partly Cloudy and breezy, with a brief shower or two possible.
