Local Weather
Partly Sunny & HOT with a brief shower or two possible.
Expect fair weather throughout the Northeastern Caribbean at least through Friday, as there is a dry layer of air that has moved into the area. Although chances are limited, a brief shower or two is still possible. Otherwise, moderate wind and sea conditions will remain at least until the end of the week, thus favorable for beaching and outdoor activities.

  • Winds: are generally from the East at 5 to 15 miles per hour.
  • Seas: are moderate with wave heights between 2 to 4 feet.

Tropical Weather
Active Storms: Tropical Storm Katia.
* As of this morning at 5am, Tropical Storm Katia was located 13.9N 39.1W or about 1600mi SSE of St. Maarten with maximum sustained winds of 65mph. Katia is racing West-northwest at 21mph and is almost at hurricane strength. Katia is forecast to continue strengthening and may become a hurricane later today. This system is about 4 days away from the local region, and models are showing that the center of Katia will pass just to the North of the SSS Islands. We will continue to monitor its progress as it gets closer to us.

Special Weather
A moderate earthquake occurred near Jamaica this morning at around 2:30am (local time) with a magnitude of 4.4 on the Richter Scale.
