Local Weather
Partly Cloudy with a few passing showers, becoming breezy.
A tropical wave (see details below) is forecast to move into the Eastern Caribbean as early as tonight and into tomorrow morning. Increasing showers and windy conditions are expected through the SSS Islands and surrounding islands such as Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands by tomorrow. Some of these showers will be heavy and can cause street-flooding. Residents (and visitors) are urged to use extreme caution when traveling through low-lying and flood-prone areas. Seas will also begin to deteriorate and a small craft advisory will most likely be issued later. Therefore, mariners (boaters & beach-goers) should exercise extreme caution in the regional waters.

  • Winds: are generally from the East to Northeast at 10 to 20 miles per hour, becoming 15 to 30 miles per hour with higher gusts near showers.
  • Seas: are moderate to fairly choppy with wave heights between 3 to 6 feet, becoming rough with wave heights up to 9 feet.

Tropical Weather
Active Storms: Tropical Storm Harvey.
* Tropical Depression 8 was upgraded to Tropical Storm Harvey yesterday afternoon, and has maximum sustained winds of 60mph. Harvey is located about 10miles NE of Isla Roatan, Honduras or about 135miles SE of Belize City and is forecast to make landfall as a minor Hurricane this afternoon or this evening. This system poses NO threat to the SSS Islands nor any other Caribbean islands.
A tropical wave located about 500mi East of the Lesser Antilles is expected to move into the local region by late Saturday/early Sunday, bringing showers/thunderstorms and gusty winds to the SSS (and surrounding) Islands, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. This system has a high (80%) chance to develop into a tropical depression as it moves into an area that is more favorable for development.
* Additionally, another tropical wave located about 100 miles S of the Cape Verde Islands has a medium (40%) chance of developing into a tropical cyclone as it moves Westward and across the Atlantic Ocean. This system is about 5 days away from the local region, so it is too soon to determine when/where this system will progress.

Special Weather
None.

Outlook for tomorrow
