Local Weather
Partly to Mostly Cloudy & slighlty breezy with a couple passing showers.
As an area of moisture moves across the local region, therefore expect a few passing showers over parts of the SSS (and surrounding) Islands today. Also, a dry layer of air will move into the area, thus limiting shower chances on Wednesday. Otherwise, moderate wind and sea conditions will remain at least for the next couple of days.
- Winds: are generally from the East at 8 to 18 miles per hour.
- Seas: are moderate with wave heights between 2 to 5 feet.
Tropical Weather Active Storms: Tropical Storm Katia.
* Tropical Storm Jose dissipated yesterday afternoon in the cooler waters just North of Bermuda.
* As of this morning at 5am, Tropical Depression 12 was upgraded to Tropical Storm Katia, which was located 11.8N 31.7W or about 2100mi SSE of St. Maarten with maximum sustained winds of 40mph. Katia is moving West-northwest at 17mph and is expected to pick up speed during the next couple of days. Regardless of speed, Katia is forecast to continue strengthening and may become a hurricane by late Wednesday/early Thursday. This system is still about 5 days away from the local region, and we will continue to monitor its progress and path to determine if it will affect the SSS (and surrounding) Islands.
Special Weather
None.
Outlook for tomorrow
Partly Sunny & HOT with a minimal chance for a passing shower.
