Local Weather
Partly Cloudy & HOT with a brief shower or two possible.
As the remnants of Tropical Storm Maria vacate the local area, weather conditions will gradually improve throughout the day. However, lingering moisture may cause a brief shower or two over parts of the SSS (and surrounding) Islands. Furthermore, wind and sea conditions have begun to improve and the Small Craft Advisory has been canceled. Mariners (especially small-craft operators) are still urged to use caution when traveling through the surrounding waters.
- Winds: are generally from the Southeast at 5 to 15 miles per hour, with occasional higher gusts.
- Seas: are moderate with wave heights between 3 to 5 feet, with the highest wave action along the Eastern-facing shores.
Tropical Weather Active Storms: Tropical Storm Maria.
* As of this morning at 8am, the center of Tropical Storm Maria was located at 21.9N 67.9W or about 400mi NW of St. Maarten/320mi E of the Southeastern Bahamas, and had winds of 50mph. Maria continues to move on towards the North-Northwest and away from the local region. This system currently poses no threat to the SSS islands.
* A weak tropical wave located near the Cape Verde Islands shows little to no signs of organization; but eventual development cannot be ruled out. We will monitor the progress of this system, as it is about 6 days away from the local area.
Special Weather
None.
Outlook for tomorrow
