Additionally, a slight risk of a thunderstorm or two is forecast for tomorrow. Otherwise wind and sea conditions have returned to normal levels; therefore the Small Craft Advisory and High Surf Advisory have been lifted, allowing favorable conditions for boating and swimming.

Tropical Weather
Active Storms: Hurricane Katia.
* Hurricane Katia became a major hurricane (category 3 or higher) as it continues to head off to the Northwest and further away from the local region. This system poses NO threat to the SSS (and surrounding) Islands.
* A tropical wave developed near the Cape Verde Islands (off the African Coast) yesterday and became much better organized during the past 12 hours. As of 8am this morning, this system had a high (70%) chance of becoming a tropical depression later today or Wednesday, and was located about 1800mi SE of St. Maarten (about 5 days away). The developing tropical wave is moving West to West-Northwest at 15mph. We will continue to monitor the progress of this system as it develops.
* Additionally, another tropical disturbance has developed in the Southern Gulf of Mexico. This system has a low (20%) chance of becoming a tropical depression within the next 48 hours, and does NOT pose a threat to the SSS Islands or the rest of the Caribbean.

Special Weather
None.
