Local Weather
Partly Cloudy & HOT with chance of a few brief shower.
A system of high pressure located over the local region will maintain fair weather conditions and limit the chances for shower activity. Wind and sea conditions are also moderate; however, mariners (especially small-craft operators) are still urged to use caution when traveling through the surrounding waters. Shower activity are forecast to increase by weekend as another weak tropical wave moves into the area.
- Winds: are generally from the Southeast to East at 5 to 15 miles per hour, with occasional higher gusts.
- Seas: are moderate with wave heights between 3 to 6 feet, with the highest wave action along the Eastern-facing shores.
Tropical Weather Active Storms: Tropical Storm Maria.
* The center of Tropical Storm Maria is racing Northward into the open waters of the Northern Atlantic Ocean. This system currently poses no threat to the Caribbean region.
* A weak tropical wave located near the Cape Verde Islands has a low (10%) chance of developing into a tropical depression during the next 48 hours. It shows little to no signs of organization; but eventual development is still possible. We will monitor the progress of this system, as it is about 5 days away from the local area, if it holds together.
