Daily Forecast: St. Maarten-St. Eustatius-Saba (SSS Islands)

Almanac

2011:
260 days in, 105 days remaining

Hurricane Season:
109 days in, 75 days remaining

Today's Temps
High: 86/30C, feels like 89F/32C
Low: 77F/25C, feels like 80F/27C

Local Weather
Partly to Mostly Cloudy & Breezy, with showers and a possible thunderstorm or two.
A tropical disturbance is slowly moving across the local area, bringing periodic showers and possible thunderstorms to the SSS (and surrounding) Islands throughout the weekend. Some of these showers may be heavy and can cause street-flooding. Therefore residents (and visitors) should use caution when traveling through low-lying and flood-prone areas. Wind and sea levels are likely to increase in and around these showers. Mariners (especially small-craft operators) are still urged to use caution when traveling through the surrounding waters.

  • Winds: are generally from the East at 8 to 18 miles per hour, with occasional higher gusts near showers.
  • Seas: are moderate with wave heights between 3 to 7 feet, with the highest wave action in and around showers -- mainly along the Eastern-facing shores.

Tropical Weather
Active Storms: None.
* Hurricane Maria was downgraded to a tropical storm before losing all of its tropical characteristics yesterday afternoon and then finally dissipated. The National Hurricane Center has issued their last advisory on this system.
* A weak tropical wave located near the Cape Verde Islands has a medium (30%) chance of developing into a tropical depression in the next 2 days. It currently shows little to no signs of organization, but eventual development is still possible. We will monitor the progress of this system as it crosses the Atlantic Ocean.

Special Weather
None.
