Local Weather
Partly to Mostly Cloudy & Breezy, with a few passing showers and a slight risk of thunder.
The tropical disturbance that brought a few showers to the local region yesterday continues to move West and away from us. However, moisture left behind the system may still cause periods of showers during the next day or two with a slight risk of a local thunderstorm. Minor street-flooding is still a possibility and gusty winds  can be expected in and around showers. Furthermore, wind and sea levels are forecast to increase slightly later today; therefore mariners (especially small-craft operators & beach-goers) should exercise caution in the surrounding and open waters.

  • Winds: are generally from the East at 10 to 20 miles per hour, with occasional higher gusts up to 25mph near showers.
  • Seas: are moderate to fairly choppy with wave heights between 3 to 7 feet; becoming rough with waves between 4 to 8 feet later today, with the highest wave action near showers and along the Eastern-facing shores. A Small Craft Advisory will be in effect as of 12pm today.

Tropical Weather
Active Storms: Tropical Storm Ophelia.
* A small tropical wave is now located about 350mi SW of the SSS Islands and continues to move Westward. Although the bulk of this system has already passed the local region, lingering moisture behind it will still produce a few showers and gusty winds throughout the next day or two.
* As of 5am this morning, Tropical Storm Ophelia was located at 13.4N 47.0W or about 1000mi E of the Lesser Antilles and had winds of 65mph. Ophelia is moving toward the West at 14mph and is expected to change little in strength as it crosses the Atlantic. The Northeastern Caribbean can expect effects of Ophelia by this weekend (late Saturday/early Sunday), if the system remains on the current projected track.

We will continue to monitor the progress of this system as it nears the local region.

Special Weather
None.
