Local Weather
Partly Cloudy & HOT, with increasing chance for showers during the evening to overnight hours & slight risk of a thunderstorm or two.
The remnants of Tropical Storm Ophelia (see below) is still making its approach to the local region as a cluster of disorganized showers & thunderstorms. As this system moves slowly towards the Northeastern Caribbean, expect increased shower activity during the next 24 or so hours with a possible thunderstorm or two over parts of the SSS (and the surrounding) Islands. Some of these showers may be heavy and can cause street-flooding  in low-lying & flood-prone areas. Furthermore, wind and sea conditions are gentle to moderate and may slightly increase in and around showers.

  • Winds: are generally from the West to West-Northwest at 5 to 10 miles per hour, with occasional higher gusts near showers.
  • Seas: are gentle to moderate with wave heights between 3 to 5 feet; and possibly higher in and around showers.

Tropical Weather
Active Storms: Tropical Storm Phillippe.
* Tropical Depression 17 developed into Tropical Storm Philippe over the weekend and as of 5pm this afternoon was located at 15.4N 34.4W or about 695mi West of the Cape Verde Islands/1900mi East of the Lesser Antilles. TS Philippe had winds of 60mph and does not pose a threat to the Caribbean or any land area, as it moves toward the Northwest and out into the open waters at 8mph.

* As of 5pm, the remnants of Tropical Storm Ophelia was located about 200mi East of the Northeastern Caribbean and was moving toward the West-Northwest at 5 to 10mph. This system has a medium (30%) chance of regenerating into a tropical cyclone within the next 48 hours. However, regardless of (re-)development, the local region can expect scattered showers and thunderstorms over the next day or two.

We will continue to monitor the progress of these systems.

Special Weather
None.

Outlook for tomorrow
