Local Weather
Variably Cloudy & Breezy, with a few passing showers and a slight risk of thunder, mainly during the afternoon to evening hours.
A small tropical disturbance located just under 200miles East of the Northeastern Caribbean is forecast to move across the local region today, bringing showers and gusty winds to parts of the SSS (and surrounding) Islands mainly during the afternoon to evening hours. Some of these showers may be heavy and due to the already saturated soil conditions, minor street-flooding may still occur. Therefore residents (and visitors) should use caution in and around low-lying and flood-prone areas. Furthermore, wind and sea levels will increase in and around showers. Small-craft operators should however still use caution over the open waters.

  • Winds: are generally from the East at 8 to 18 miles per hour, with occasional higher gusts up to 25mph near showers.
  • Seas: are moderate with wave heights between 3 to 6 feet, with the highest wave action near showers and along the Eastern-facing shores. A Small Craft Advisory may be issued later today.

Tropical Weather
Active Storms: Tropical Storm Ophelia.
* A small tropical wave located just under 200miles East of the SSS Islands has a near 0% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within the next 48 hours. However, regardless of development, this system is expected to bring showers, thunderstorm activity, and gusty winds into the local area as early as this afternoon/evening.
* The tropical disturbance located about 1460miles ESE of the Northeastern Caribbean developed into Tropical Storm Ophelia, and is expected to gradually strengthen while moving toward the local region. As of 5am this morning, Ophelia was located at 12.7N 41.8W and had winds of 45mph. As TS Ophelia moves toward the West at 13mph, it is forecast to reach the local area by late Saturday/early Sunday.

We will continue to monitor the progress of these systems as they near the local region.

Special Weather
None.
