Local Weather
Partly Cloudy & HOT, with a few passing showers possible.
As Tropical Storm Ophelia finally begins to move slowly away from the local region, a passing shower or two is still expected over parts of the SSS (and surrounding) Islands throughout the day. The possibility also still exists for minor flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas, therefore all are reminded to use caution. Furthermore, winds are gentle to moderate and may slightly increase in and around showers, while sea conditions are forecast to begin deteriorating by Thursday, as Ophelia continues to intensify.

  • Winds: are generally from the North to Northwest at 5 to 10 miles per hour, with occasional higher gusts up to 15mph near showers.
  • Seas: are gentle to moderate with wave heights between 3 to 6 feet; and possibly higher in and around showers.
Tropical Weather
Active Storms: Tropical Storm Ophelia, Tropical Storm Philippe.

* Tropical Storm Ophelia was located at 20.0N 61.1W or about 200mi Northeast of the local region, as of 5am this morning. TS Ophelia had winds of 60mph and is moving towards the North-Northwest at about 7mph. Ophelia is also expected to further intensify and may possibly become a hurricane by weekend, as it moves further away from the Northeastern Caribbean.
* As of 5am this morning, Tropical Storm Philippe was located at 17.8N 41.7W or about 1175mi West of the Cape Verde Islands/
1400mi East of the Lesser Antilles. TS Philippe had winds of 45mph and does not pose a threat to the Caribbean or any land area, as it moves toward the West-Northwest and out into the open waters at 13mph. This system is expected to strengthen over the next 48 hours, before weakening.
We will continue to monitor the progress of these systems.
