Daily Forecast: St. Maarten-St. Eustatius-Saba (SSS Islands)

Almanac

2011:
261 days in, 104 days remaining

Hurricane Season:
110 days in, 74 days remaining

Today's Temps
High: 87/31C, feels like 93F/34C
Low: 78F/26C, feels like 83F/28C

Local Weather
Partly to Mostly Cloudy & fairly breezy, with showers and a slight risk of thunder.
The tropical disturbance is still moving across the local area slowly and should begin to move away by tonight and into Monday. Therefore, showers and a possible thunderstorm or two are expected  over parts of the SSS (and surrounding) Islands today and tomorrow as well. Some of these showers may be heavy and can cause minor street-flooding. Therefore residents (and visitors) should use caution when traveling through low-lying and flood-prone areas. Wind and sea levels are likely to increase in and around these showers. Mariners (especially small-craft operators) are still urged to use caution when traveling through the surrounding waters.

  • Winds: are generally from the East at 8 to 18 miles per hour, with occasional higher gusts in and around showers.
  • Seas: are moderate with wave heights between 3 to 5 feet, with the highest wave action near showers and along the Eastern-facing shores.

Tropical Weather
Active Storms: None.
* A couple weak tropical waves located midway between Africa and the Lesser Antilles have a low (20% & 10%) chance of developing into a tropical depression in the next 2 days. They currently show little to no signs of organization, but eventual development is still possible this week. We will monitor the progress of this system as it crosses the Atlantic Ocean.

Special Weather
None.

Outlook for tomorrow

Partly to Mostly Cloudy, with showers from time to time.
